For many years now, IBEW Local 702 has teamed up with American Income Life to provide free Accidental Death & Dismemberment policies to our members. As with most insurance, we hope this $4,000 no-charge benefit is never needed, but if it is, we are glad it is there.
Members of the Local should have recently received a letter in the mail from Business Manager Steve Hughart, outlining some of the benefits of our partnership with AIL. Although it is not mandatory to return the Beneficiary Card (click here to view), it is advantageous to do so in that you can name your beneficiary and thus avoid possible tax implications. Finally, a representative from American Income Life may contact you to deliver your certificate of coverage. Again, it is not mandatory that you meet with them to recieve this coverage, but if you are interested in learning more about additional coverage or other products they may offer, we believe it could be a good use of your time.
